REVIEWOF 2018

Brown&Co sold nearly £10Mworth of property under the hammer throughout Norfolk and East Anglia fromour Norwich Auction Centre in 2018. Wewere delightedwith the results of our four auctions last year, with auctions continuing toworkwell for buyers and sellers alike due to the transactional speed and certainty that auction delivers. March 2018 saw£3.5Mworth of property sold on the day, with highlights including a cottage by the railway line inWymondhamand a farmhouse set in nearly an acre at Besthorpe, both in need of renovation and selling for well in excess of the reserves. Readerswill remember that 43 – 43aNewmarket Road, Norwichwas the icing on the cake at that auction, selling for a figure in excess of £250,000 over the reserve. Our July auction sawsome £2.25Mworth of property sold under the hammer, with notable results including the sale of awell-known hardware store inHarleston at a figure well in excess of the reserve, together with terraced houses inNorwichwhich soldwell too. Our September sale sawus realise some £2.7Mworth of propertywith garages and investment opportunities inHoveton, Holt, Barney andBinhamselling for well in excess of the reserve prices, together with an investment opportunity in Sheringham. Two notable sales in September included a property overlooking theNorth Sea inMarine Parade, Gorleston and then the sale of no. 1 Town Close Road on the prestigious Town Close Estate inNorwich selling for a figure in excess of the reserve at £700,000. Finally, our December sale saw£1Mworth of property soldwith success throughout the price ranges. We hope for similar success in 2019 and expect to be busy.
